How many chiropractic or osteopathy treatments will I need?

One of the questions we're asked most often at The Hive Health is:

"How many treatments will I need?"

The honest answer is: it depends.

Every person who walks through our door is different. The cause of your pain, how long you've had it, your general health, your lifestyle and your goals all influence how quickly you recover.

Someone who has strained their back gardening over the weekend may need a very different approach to someone who has been living with persistent neck pain for several years.

That's why we don't believe in offering a one-size-fits-all answer before we've assessed you properly.

Your first appointment

Your first visit is about understanding the bigger picture.

We'll spend time discussing your symptoms, your medical history and how your problem is affecting your day-to-day life. We'll then carry out an examination to help identify what's contributing to your symptoms.

Once we've completed your assessment, we'll explain our findings, answer any questions you have, and discuss whether chiropractic or osteopathic care is likely to help.

If we don't think we're the right place for you, we'll tell you.

Creating a treatment plan together

If treatment is appropriate, we'll recommend a plan based on our clinical findings.

That doesn't mean you lose control of your care.

We believe the best treatment plans are created together. We'll discuss our recommendations while taking into account your goals, your availability, your budget and what matters most to you.

You might be hoping to:

  • Get back to work comfortably.
  • Return to the gym or your sport.
  • Keep up with your children or grandchildren.
  • Sleep better.
  • Simply move with less pain.

Your treatment plan should reflect those priorities.

Will my treatment plan change?

Often, yes.

Recovery doesn't always happen in a straight line.

Some people improve more quickly than expected, while others need a little longer. As your symptoms change, we'll review your progress and adapt your treatment plan where appropriate.

Our aim is always to provide the right care at the right time—not more appointments than you need.

Do I have to commit to a course of treatment?

No.

We'll always explain what we recommend and why, but the decision is yours.

We'll give you the information you need to make an informed choice, and you're welcome to ask questions at any stage.

Still not sure?

If you're wondering whether chiropractic or osteopathic treatment is right for you, we're happy to help.
